It’s so sad to see our nation’s police caught up in the steroid abuse scandal.
According to reports, the fuzz who are ingesting and injecting are doing so to become bigger, stronger and more nimble in their never-ending battle for truth, justice and the American way.
I guess that makes some sort of schizophrenic sense, but how can the coppers be so ignorant about the long-term dangers of roids? I understand why athletes dope: they have a limited period of time in which to perform, and the monetary rewards can be enormous.
But, what’s with policemen who pop? Not only are they endangering their health, they’re breaking the law. Talk about not walking the walk.
The real losers in this latest scandal are, once again, our nation’s kids. The role models I grew up with have systematically disgraced themselves and their professions (think priests, teachers, entertainers, cops, politicians, and athletes, to name just a few). There’s literally no one left to look up to.
That said, it is interesting to speculate on which profession might next fall prey to the allure of steroids. Will it be…
– librarians, who need to bulk up to lift the ever-increasing number of kiss-and-tell books?
–
toll booth collectors, whose biceps and triceps need to be at maximum
strength for an eight-hour day? (And, what’s with people who don’t have
an E-Z pass? What am I missing?)
– terrorists, who need every advantage possible to strike against a much more vigilant public?
– NJ Transit train conductors, who need to be lightning quick on their feet after announcing the cause of the latest delay?
The
cops and ‘roids scandal is just the latest downward spiral of a society
that simply no longer cares about its image or reputation.
It’s almost enough to make a reputation blogger stop blogging. Almost, but not enough.
not only does it endanger our health but what officers who get roid range? I dont think its a good situation when our states law enforcers get roided up and then work while possibly having to deal with roid range. that could make a messy situation get even worse.
